As a dedicated British Columbia photographer based in the picturesque Okanagan, my lens captures the timeless moments of couples celebrating love. Over the past few years, my heart has been drawn to the allure of adventurous and spontaneous elopements, where the untamed beauty of nature becomes the backdrop for lasting memories. In this narrative, I delve into the intricacies of planning and executing an intimate elopement in the secluded mountains, an endeavour that brought together a talented team of vendors and a delightful couple, Malcolm and Nakita, who embodied the essence of this envisioned shoot.
Every great photoshoot begins with a vision, and for this rustic elopement, I collaborated with Ginger Turley Artistry to curate a romantic aesthetic that would weave through every frame. As we set out to find the perfect couple, Malcolm and Nakita emerged as a serendipitous choice, their recent engagement aligning seamlessly with the shoot’s intimate nature.
Nakita, adorned in a breathtaking gown from First Comes Love Bridal, embodied the epitome of elegance and grace. The choice of attire harmonized flawlessly with the shoot’s theme, creating a look that resonated with romance. For Malcolm, Main Street Clothing played a pivotal role, styling him in a clean and put-together ensemble. The unique pairing of a slim-fit trouser with a distinctive dress shirt added the desired wow factor to his overall appearance.
Florabella Designs, known for their expertise in crafting unique floral arrangements, was the natural choice for this shoot. The bouquet, a wild and free masterpiece, featured lush greenery, feathers, and deep burgundy accents, seamlessly blending with the untamed surroundings. Cakes by Kayla took charge of crafting a cake that not only complemented the elopement but also served as a delectable work of art. The stationery, meticulously designed by Becky from Pure Wedding Designs, tied together the entire aesthetic, adding a touch of sophistication to the rustic affair.
Selecting the ideal location was a pivotal decision, and the Rustic Wedding / High Country Tree Farm emerged as the perfect canvas for our elopement. The diverse landscapes offered by the property provided endless possibilities for capturing intimate moments in a cabin-like, woodsy environment. The varied settings set the stage for a captivating narrative, adding depth and dimension to the overall visual story.
Embarking on a road trip from Kamloops to Sorrento added a touch of adventure to our day. Fueled by Starbucks and the melodies of country tunes, our journey unfolded with laughter, exploration, and the joy of discovering hidden gems through the woods. This laid-back journey set the tone for the shoot, fostering a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
As the day culminated in the enchanting landscapes of High Country Tree Farm, the vision of an intimate elopement came to life. Each element, from the carefully chosen attire to the wild floral arrangements and the delectable treats, played a role in weaving a tapestry of romance. This narrative not only chronicles the planning and execution of a rustic elopement but also stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of a talented team and the innate beauty of love flourishing in the heart of nature. The memories captured in this rustic affair at High Country Tree Farm echo the timeless essence of an elopement, where love thrives in the simplicity of the untamed outdoors.
