As I begin this adventure in blogging, I cannot promise much just yet but my goals are to educate and inspire you when you start planning your engagement session, elopement or wedding.
So here’s a bit about me!
Hello there, I’m Kathryn, a passionate photographer based in beautiful British Columbia. Growing up in Vancouver, I always identified more as a creative soul than an academic one. It took me a while to embrace this aspect of myself, but the moment I picked up my first camera, I realized that photography was the perfect medium for expressing my creativity.
My photographic journey began in Grade 11 Photography, where I delved into the fundamentals of Aperture, ISO, and Shutter speed while honing my skills in dark rooms. With the advent of the digital era, I became the High School Yearbook Photographer, seizing every opportunity to capture moments – even those cringe-worthy early attempts you won’t find in my portfolio today.
At that point, photography was merely a passion, not yet a career. Raised in a household that prioritized education and security, I initially pursued a career in Event Planning, eventually transitioning to Event Management and Wedding Planning. Throughout my planning experiences, I constantly found myself reaching for my camera to document the events. It was during this period that I truly discovered my love for photography.
Despite my initial lack of confidence, I decided to take action and pursue this newfound passion. I started investing in my skills by attending workshops, enrolling in online courses, and participating in webinars. While my entry into the industry was gradual, second shooting for friends who graciously took me under their wing became a pivotal stepping stone. I firmly believe that second shooting is invaluable for learning from others, developing patience, and gaining practical experience.
Even today, I remain committed to continuous education, firmly believing in its transformative power. My journey is a testament to the idea that with dedication, perseverance, and a love for learning, you can turn your passion into a fulfilling career.
